Jamise Perkins is a sole practitioner with over 14 years of experience in criminal law. She has worked as a criminal defense attorney for 7 years. Prior to starting her own law practice in 2012, Jamise worked as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office where she prosecuted some of the most complex and high profile felony cases handled by the prosecutor’s office. As a Deputy Prosecutor she achieved a 98% conviction rate and was twice awarded the Lake County Prosecutor’s “Hammerin’ Hand Award” for her meritorious contributions to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney and the people of Lake County, Indiana. Jamise has taken over forty (40) cases to jury trial for charges ranging from drug dealing to quadruple homicide.
Jamise has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and received her Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law. After obtaining her law degree, Jamise sat for and passed the bar examinations in Indiana and Illinois, and currently holds active licenses in both States. Prior to enrolling in law school, she worked with various non-profit organizations for many years as a social worker serving high risk young adults who were wards of the State of Illinois and as a contractor.
Jamise is also employed as a Lake County Felony Public Defender where she works defending indigent clients charged with various felony offenses. She is a graduate of the National Criminal Defense College Trial Practice Institute, Indiana Public Defender Trial Practice Institute, National District Attorneys Trial Advocacy Program and National District Attorneys Forensic Evidence Program. She is a member of the Lake County Bar Association, the Women Lawyer’s Association, the Kimbrough Bar Association, the Cook County Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
